How you can help

Families are part of the care, not just visitors

Your presence matters. Speak normally and calmly, hold the patient's hand when the nurses allow, and gently remind them of the day, time, and place. Bring spectacles, hearing aids, and if the patient is conscious, reading material like a newspaper or a book. Please note that mobile phones are strictly not allowed in the ICU due to patient privacy concerns and hospital policy.

Choosing one family member as the main contact person keeps communication clear, and family meetings with the doctors are the right place for bigger medical questions. Financial issues can be communicated with our PRO and billing team on the ground floor.

Key points

  • Speak normally, your voice itself is reassuring
  • Bring spectacles, hearing aids, and reading materials (if conscious)
  • Mobile phones are strictly prohibited in the ICU
  • Contact the PRO or billing team on the ground floor for financial queries

Good to know

Look after yourself too, eat, rest, and take turns. Recovery is a long road and the patient will need you strong.
